Accounting and Payment
Business is more competitive than ever. Economic fluctuations, currency exchange rate surprises, global competition, decreasing profits and fickle customers all add up to day-to-day challenges that make up the business environment today.
DTA does its small part in finding money, keeping money and telling our clients how to ship smarter for less. The old saying “a penny found is a penny earned” applies directly to what DTA does. If a company is earning at 14% pre-tax profit margin, simply reducing freight costs by 5% is the same as increasing sales by 31%.
DTA knows what accountants need and understands that they need the information right away. That’s why we apply a general ledger allocation code to every shipment based on each client’s unique chart of accounts. If the client can supply this data electronically, then we merge it with the manual codes that we apply. Whenever there is a question, the assigned DTA accounting representative will contact our client to get the answers. That way the transportation expense is allocated to the correct GL code and the carrier gets paid the correct amount and on time.
Outsourcing freight payment saves a great deal of time and money. One weekly cheque or electronic funds transfer also makes life so much easier. On a weekly basis, DTA creates a batch of electronic and paper freight invoices. This batch (or recap) is audited, entered and paid. The carriers are issued their payment every week and receive a detailed description as to why an invoice is underpaid (audit error) or not paid at all (duplicate invoice). DTA will handle all calls and queries. The carriers enjoy the fast and courteous response and can access the DTA database to also get their answers.
